The Knowledge for College Academic Scholarship is awarded to 10 college-bound high school seniors who plan to enroll full-time at a two-year or four-year technical school or college. An additional 10 scholarships will be awarded to full-time students currently enrolled at a two-year or four-year technical school or college. Awards made will be based on academic performance, financial need, and community service. Scholarship awards will range from $250 - $1,000. Funds will be disbursed in equal payments at the beginning of each semester or term.
The Deacon Charles Evans Munford Memorial Scholarship is awarded to an adult student attending an accredited 2- or 4-year degree-granting college, university or technical school for the first time or a returning adult returning to an accredited 2- or 4-year degree-granting college, university or technical school after an absence. Recipients must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75, and demonstrate active participation in a ministry and other community service.
The Geraldine Elizabeth Lee Memorial Scholarship is designed for women who have become the primary source of support for themselves and their family and wish to return to school to obtain a college degree. This scholarship is available to incoming or current freshmen, and women returning to school with a freshman status.
The Donna Marie Wilson YAYA scholarship award is based on evidence of outstanding moral character, goal setting skills, ability to lead with kindness, and academic and special honors. Financial need may be considered. Scholarships will be awarded to students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 who plan to enroll full-time at a two-year or four-year technical school or college. Awards will be made based on academic or athletic performance, community service, and extracurricular activities.
The Mychal JaVaughn Bernard Human Services Academic Scholarship is awarded to one high school senior accepted for enrollment in an undergraduate degree program who has continually engaged in community volunteer service. Eligible candidates are required to complete an application, write a personal statement on significant leadership contributions to community service, and submit three letters of recommendation from community leaders. Preference will be given to students who major in Community Development degree programs such as Human Development and Family Studies, Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, and Public Health. The scholarship award is $500.
The Karen “Lady Kay” Hilton-Sanders scholarship is awarded to college-bound high school seniors who have excelled in either academics or athletics for at least two academic years prior to applying. Scholarships will be awarded to students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 who plan to enroll full-time at a two-year or four-year technical school or college. Awards will be made based on academic or athletic performance, community service, and extracurricular activities.
In honor of those who have distinguished themselves as elementary school teachers, curriculum coordinators, reading specialists, and pre-kindergarten program supervisors, the Diamond Tindal Childhood Education Scholarship has been created to provide one student with a $250 scholarship. Qualified recipients must be graduating high school seniors, plan to major in early childhood education, and enroll full-time in an accredited four-year institution in South Carolina. Kenneth Benjamin is a retired Middle School Teacher and coach with 35 years of service. During his tenure, Coach Benjamin garnered 41 regional championships in football, basketball, and track. He was also recognized as the 2007 South Carolina Coach of the Year.
